Had a fantastic time at the Dallas Magic Club meeting on Tuesday! As the Club's official photographer, I hosted a mini-lecture on making your magic look better, based on photographs that I have taken of other performers on stage over the years. The lecture went well, in spite of the fact that we had problems with the stage lights. Wouldn't you know that we'd have issues with the lights on the night that the photographer was scheduled to be on stage!

Well, the new year is off to a great start at the Dallas Magic Club! We treated the guests to a professional close-up magic show with four Club members, including myself, who brought out their best performance pieces for the occasion. Judging from the expressions on people's faces, it looks like everyone had a great time. Thanks to Shawn Messioner, Geoff "Doc" Grimes, and Ian Richards, for their help in making the show a success. And, of course, a special thanks goes out to Club officer Dal Sanders for being my stand-in photographer for the evening. Great job everyone! See even more shots from the event on my Facebook page .

Had a wonderful time entertaining employees of Deloitte Consulting Company in Dallas at their company after-hour cocktail party. Unfortunately, no one was on hand to take photos of the performance, but we all had a good time, and hopefully, I will get photographs the next time they invite me to one of their parties.

I had a great time entertaining employees of Arnold Transportation company with my strolling magic show at their annual company Christmas party at The Embassy Suites Hotel in Irving. They had a professional photographer on hand who took photos of me performing for guests, but I am still waiting for those photos to arrive.

Just had a great time entertaining employees of The Sheraton Hotel in Dallas with my strolling magic show at their annual Christmas party. Thanks to our host and event coordinator Lisa Benkowitz for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the festivities. I am now on their list of preferred entertainers for future events at the hotel! Looking forward to the next show there.

For once, I actually got to be a part of the audience of a magic show, instead of the guy on stage. Penn & Teller, two of my all-time favorite magicians in the whole world, performed their fantastic stage magic show at The Winstar World Casino and Hotel in Oklahoma. They absolutely blew me away with their magic, and I got to meet Penn Jillette in person for the first time! Of course, THAT photo didn't turn out, thanks to a stranger that didn't know how to push a button on a camera. But I have some great memories of the event, and the Winstar Hotel went out of their way to make my stay an enjoyable one. I will definitely be going back to attend more shows there.

It was a huge party! I had a great time at The Wyndham Hotel in Dallas performing my strolling magic show for members of the Independent Electrical Contractor's Association for their sixtieth anniversary Christmas party. Yes, they have been in business for SIXTY years, educating apprentice electricians to work in the electrical industry. This was my second time to be invited to perform at one of their Christmas parties. A special thanks goes out to Marsha Hughes, Assistant Deputy Director of the school, to my right in the four-person photo, for hiring me to entertain at the party, and for introducing me to the talent and event coordinator of the hotel! This is the second hotel in a row this year that now has me on their list of preferred entertainers! Can you spot me sharing my magic with guests in the large group shot? Daryl Howard with Jeff Hallberg (aka Santa Clause) Daryl had a wonderful time at the Dallas Magic Club's annual Christmas party, hosted by Club members Dal and Cinde Sanders at their home. Our traditional "white rabbit" gift exchange went well, and we even had a surprise visit by none other than Jeff Hallberg, aka Santa Clause, who was in Dallas for the holidays, and stopped by to be a part of the festivities. We've just entered a whole new year. Where has the time gone? Can't wait to see what magical experiences 2018 will bring!

Well, the long-awaited magic show at Confetti Eddie's Magic Parlor in Dallas was a huge success! Both shows sold completely out, and everybody had a great time. After the 11 pm show, we went to Eight Bells Tavern to perform a close-up show for guests who wanted to see more magic. That's me on the left with Magician Confetti Eddie, our musician Poppy Xander, who was nominated for Best Keyboard Artist by The Dallas Observer, and Craig our bartender.

Just had the time of my life performing my strolling magic show at the annual Perkins family Halloween party. Unfortunately, I didn't get any photos of me actually performing, but I did get some shots of the cool costumes that everyone wore. Thanks to Andrew and Monica Perkins for inviting me to share my magic with all the guests.

The City of Wylie just celebrated its third year in a row of the week-long magic festival, which ended last Thursday evening with walk-around magic by myself and fellow magician Derrel Allen, aka Mr. Goodfriend, for the guests at Boo On Ballard, and the stage show, which featured our very own Ava Rose Byers, and comedy magic team Fred & Bobbie Becker, who you may recognize from their recent appearance on Penn & Teller Fool Us . I had a great time at the Dallas Magic Club meeting the other night. You will never guess who showed up as our special guest - Sean Wilson, the grand-daughter of Mark Wilson, one of my favorite mentors in magic, and the first professional magician that I ever shook hands with. (He is mentioned in my bio on my website.) We shared stories of our experiences with Mark and his wife/stage assistant Nani Darnell, and it reminded me of how much we all depend on inspiration from others in our goals in life. Dal Sanders, past national president of the Society of American Magicians, presented Sean with her membership certificate. Afterward, a small group of friends hung out at Vernon's Pub down the street to further our discussion of life and all things magical.

Just had a great time at the Dallas Magic Club monthly meeting. We are back in our home at Theater 166, which is now Crossroads Theater, on Parker Road in Carrollton. Every year over the Labor Day weekend, magicians from all over the world gather for the Texas Association of Magicians convention. Of course, I was there with my camera to photograph the event, one of the best magic conventions I've ever attended. Among the talent lineup were, Nathan Phan from Masters of Illusion; his performing partner Richard Ramirez, who also won the trophy for best closeup performance; classic magic expert David Charvet; mentalist team Christian and Katalina; The Other Brothers; Bizzaro from Las Vegas, and many others. Had a great time at this month's Dallas Magic Club meeting! We have been scheduling a series of mini-lectures for the Club on a variety of magic-related subjects, and this month it was my turn to present a mini-lecture entitled "Conquering Stage Fright", which was very well-received by all in attendance. Next month we will be enjoying another mini-lecture on performing for children by our own club members Dal and Cinde Sanders , who have their own weekly TV children's magic show. Just had a great time at this year's Summer Splash party. This is THE party for local professional entertainers and their families and friends. That's me on the far right, enjoying drinks with award-winning magician Trigg Watson , along with Caleb Westeen and friends. A bit of sad news: Eugene Burger, listed among the top most influential magicians and authors in the modern history of performing magic, has passed away from cancer at the age of 78. He was best known for his signature piece, "Gypsy Thread", one of the most beautiful close-up magic performance pieces that I have ever witnessed. Eugene was one of my closest friends in the magic industry, and helped me with my magic show in more ways than I can even begin to count. I got to perform with him on stage at a show here in Dallas some months ago, but I never thought that it would be the last time that I would ever see him. Fortunately, before he left us, he passed along his Gypsy Thread routine to me, and I will be performing it in my shows as a tribute to Eugene and his magic. He will be missed.

Just had a great time at this month's meeting of the Dallas Magic Club . In an effort to make the meetings as educational and fun as possible, we scheduled our own Dr. Mike Smith and Geoff "Doc" Grimes to present a mini-lecture on the works of magician, philosopher, teacher, and author Robert E. Neale, whose writings, though virtually unknown to most magicians, have been a major influence on some of the greatest performers in the business. Had a fantastic time performing my walk-around magic at this year's ADD Radio Show Christmas In July party at The Expo Bar in Dallas. This was my third year in a row to perform for this charity event, and the party (and my magic) just keep getting better and better! A special thanks goes out to ADD Radio DJ Robi Nickolai for putting on this party. Looking forward to doing it all again next year!
