Best Performing Magician in Dallas Contest

If you have been wondering what I've been up to lately, I have some exciting news. I have just performed in the Dallas Magic Club's "Best Performing Magician in Dallas" contest. This was my very first time to ever enter a magic competition. The competition was fierce, but I actually think I have a shot at winning! The bad news is, I won't know the results until they are announced at the Magic Club annual banquet on May 20. But, several well-respected, experienced professional entertainers, some of whom were judges in the contest, approached me after the show to tell me what a great job I did. Even if I don't win, I had a great time, and got some experience performing. Thanks to the officers of the Dallas Magic Clubs for producing the show and giving me the opportunity to compete. And thanks to Caleb Westeen, one of our newest club members, and his wife Geneva for volunteering to help me on stage. I've included a few photos of my performance, along with a group shot of the contestants. I'll be sure to post the results as soon as they are announced, so be watching!

It was a huge party! I had a great time at The Wyndham Hotel in Dallas performing my strolling magic show for members of the Independent Electrical Contractor's Association for their sixtieth anniversary Christmas party. Yes, they have been in business for SIXTY years, educating apprentice electricians to work in the electrical industry. This was my second time to be invited to perform at one of their Christmas parties. A special thanks goes out to Marsha Hughes, Assistant Deputy Director of the school, to my right in the four-person photo, for hiring me to entertain at the party, and for introducing me to the talent and event coordinator of the hotel! This is the second hotel in a row this year that now has me on their list of preferred entertainers! Can you spot me sharing my magic with guests in the large group shot? Penn & Teller Performance

For once, I actually got to be a part of the audience of a magic show, instead of the guy on stage. Penn & Teller, two of my all-time favorite magicians in the whole world, performed their fantastic stage magic show at The Winstar World Casino and Hotel in Oklahoma. They absolutely blew me away with their magic, and I got to meet Penn Jillette in person for the first time! Of course, THAT photo didn't turn out, thanks to a stranger that didn't know how to push a button on a camera. But I have some great memories of the event, and the Winstar Hotel went out of their way to make my stay an enjoyable one. I will definitely be going back to attend more shows there.
