Dallas Home Builders Association Christmas Party

Image
You'll never believe who hired me to perform at their annual Christmas party this year . . . The Dallas Home Builders Association! They had no idea that my day job involves running an electrical construction business! To them, I was Magician Daryl Howard. What an odd coincidence. Anyway, the guests all had a great time watching me perform my close-up magic. Thanks to John Hall, pictured in the first three photos wearing the black hat, for giving me the opportunity to WOW everyone at the party. The OMG! T-shirt in photo #4 pretty much sums up the reactions of the guests. A special thanks also goes out to photographer Jaime Christensen for the photos. We must do this again next year!

McDonald and Weatherford Family Christmas Party

Image
Just had a wonderful time entertaining the McDonald and Weatherford families at their Christmas party in Crossroads, Texas. My Magic Gift Box full of Champagne, as well as my Ring On Wand routine, were the perfect choices for this occasion, since the party was organized to celebrate both their son's and daughter's weddings! A special thanks goes out to our lovely hostess Maureen McDonald for volunteering to be my photographer for the show.

Michael Ammar Lecture

Image
I just enjoyed one of the most entertaining and educational magic workshops that I have ever attended! That's Michael Ammar, one of the most talented performing magicians and teachers of magic in the business, teaching a group of eager students his new "Wine Glass Levitation". Imagine being able to approach a table, cover someone's wine glass with their borrowed napkin, and then levitate the glass with no prior preparation and literally no strings attached! You can even allow people to lift the napkin and look at the glass from underneath! This was just one of many "magician foolers" that Michael shared with us. Time to go to work!

Great Texas Magic Festival

Image
Even Captain America turned up for the show! That's me performing my walk-around magic at the Wylie, Texas magic festival last Thursday. The turnout was great, and everybody loved the magic on the street as well as the stage show at the Wylie Event Center. In fact, everybody in attendance loved the magic show so much, the Dallas Magic Clubs have already decided to put on another show next year! I'll have photographs of that stage show soon, so be watching.

Shoot Ogawa Lecture

Image
I just attended an awesome magic lecture by famous Japanese magician Shoot Ogawa, who visited the Dallas Magic Club to share some of his favorite secrets. I especially appreciated his version of the Chinese Linking Rings, which he calls "The Ninja Rings". He is one of the few magicians that can perform the classic linking ring trick with an audience volunteer holding the rings! If you know how it works, you can appreciate how amazing that is. If anyone is interested, we have another great lecture coming up on Sunday, November 1. Professor Lawrence Hass, associate dean of the McBride School of Magic in Las Vegas will be lecturing and releasing his new book Inspirations. E-mail me if you want more details.

Wylie Rodeo Performance

Image
The Great Texas Magic Festival in Wylie, Texas is off to a great start! That's me performing walk-around magic at the annual Wylie rodeo to promote ticket sales for the Night of Wonder stage magic show that will be held at the Wylie First Baptist Church Event Center on Thursday, October 29, from 7:30 until 9:00 pm. We also have strolling magic being performed on the streets and in several local restaurants the whole week from October 24th through the 29th. You can get more details and buy tickets to the show at TheMagicofWylie.com. Tickets are only $10, and we have several award-winning magicians scheduled to perform. This is a family-friendly show, so be sure to get tickets for the whole family. And, of course, I will be there during the week performing my close-up magic, so come on out and be a part of the magic! Looks like this make it all worthwhile!

Axel Hecklau Lecture

Image
Just attended a fantastic magic lecture here in Dallas by an old friend,  Axel Hecklau , a magician from Germany best known for "Newsflash", his instant torn and restored newspaper trick that he shared with us, along with many other amazing effects. My favorite was his "Knife Through Solid Spoon", pictured here. We also learned a really cool way to make a paper rose to give out as a gift. If you are interested in getting on the invitation list for upcoming lectures,  e-mail me , and I will pass your request along to the Dallas Magic Club.
